Drupal and Flex

Submitted by matthew on December 16, 2010 - 11:31am

I am still amazed at the number of people that come to my website to read my articles on how to integrate Drupal with Adobe Flex. I think that is a sign I should be doing more work in that area. I decided to quite using Flex full time in my client for about a year ago when Drupal 6 was release. The only reason I used Flex in the first place was for the pretty IDE and the pretty UIs I could make, but with D6 and Jquery, I can do it all there!

Anyway, I think this is a sign. I guess I will start looking into more ideas of Drupal and Flex integration. Any ideas on what you want to see?

CKeditor and Thickbox with Flex 3 Tutorial

So I have always hated the built in rich text editor that comes with flex and have always looked for alternatives. With drupal websites I am a fan of FCKeditor but a while back I took some time to try their new CKeditor and found it to be quite amazing.

Here are my slides from my Drupal Camp Atlanta presentation. I got caught up with work leading up to the day so most of the content came from Chris Charlton who had put on a previous session a few years ago. Well here they are:

I have been looking for a way to upload a file in flex and save the bytearray directly to drupal via amf. This was written on Drupal 5 however it can easily be added to Drupal 6. Just note there is already a file_services module in D6 and not d5. Here's what I have come up with that works great:

Flex Interactive Calendar

At work I was asked start development on a new flex calender application that will live on a central server. I am making it as a web app, air app, facebook app, and possibly a mobile phone app, but I am unsure how flex applications will perform on mobile devices.
